Florida Veteran Health Heroes

The following laws impacting veterans, military service members and their families were passed during the 2018 regular session of the Florida Legislature. These laws relate to MQA’s focus to be the nation’s leader in quality health care regulation. Chapter 2018-7, Laws of Florida -- Named the “Don Hahnfeldt Veteran and Military Family Opportunity Act,” this law expands legislation signed by Governor Scott in 2014. It allows for expedited licensure requirements for active duty military spouses to practice dentistry, and it eliminates the supervision level requirement for a tempo- rary professional license for dentistry. This law also authorizes licensing boards to recognize certain military-issued credentials earned by active duty military members and their spouses for purposes of issuing a license in a health care profession and designates March 25th of each year as “Medal of Honor Day.” This law became effective July 1, 2018.
