From educating the public, to conducting complex investigations and issuing cease and desist orders, the Florida Department of Health’s
Unlicensed Activity (ULA) program is dedicated to protecting the people of Florida, and remaining at the forefront of health care regulation.
The ULA program investigates all unlicensed health care activity complaints and has long-standing partnerships with law enforcement and
state attorney offices to prosecute individuals practicing without a license. The ULA program currently has 18 dedicated investigators housed
in 11 field offices across the state. This fiscal year saw a 72 percent increase in cease and desists issued compared to last year and nearly
90 percent of complaints were referred to law enforcement for further prosecution.
