Table 10: Disciplinary Cases
MQA, in conjunction with the boards, works to enforce health care standards through timely discipline of health care professionals and
facilities found in violation of the law. A Rapid Process Improvement (RPI) event was held late in 2014 with the Bureau of Enforcement
managers and facilitators designed to improve work processes by reducing defects and reworking non-value-added steps. During the RPI
event, 55 steps were removed from the regulatory complaint process, resulting in 93.27 percent of investigations against health care
practitioners completed within 180 days of receipt. This fiscal year final orders were issued in 1,370 cases against health care practitioners.
Some practitioners were determined to need additional training to prevent errors, while others were reprimanded or sanctioned. MQA
continues to evaluate its disciplinary processes to increase accurate disciplinary actions and improve the safety of the public.
