The Department has a specific unit within the PSU dedicated to reviewing all cases in which a licensed health care provider may pose

an immediate danger to the health or safety of the public. Attorneys are tasked with quickly reviewing all incoming cases and drafting an

Emergency Suspension or Emergency Restriction order within 15 days if the case qualifies for emergency action. The unit works diligently to

review and prioritize cases in a more expedient manner to protect the public. This fiscal year, emergency orders were issued on 236 cases for

serious violations posing a danger to patients and the public.
