With the economy on the rise, Florida has become the perfect climate for families and businesses alike to grow. To help sustain this growth,
the Florida Department of Health has made a concerted effort to reduce regulation and eliminate unnecessary barriers to licensure.
Since 2010, Florida’s health care population has increased by 16.7 percent. To ensure every practitioner has the necessary education and
experience to obtain a license, the Division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA) developed a robust licensure process which thoroughly
reviews applications. Florida was also one of the first states to include background screenings in its credentialing process. MQA is committed
to getting practitioners to work and since last fiscal year, the average time to issue an initial license has decreased by 8.82 percent.
