The Department has a specific unit within the Prosecution Services Unit dedicated to reviewing all cases in which a licensee may pose an
immediate danger to the health or safety of the public. In the event that a health care provider poses an immediate danger to themselves or
the public, the Department has the authority to restrict or suspend a health care license through an emergency order. During the 2015-2016
fiscal year, the Department issued 267 emergency orders for serious violations posing a danger to patients and the public.
