Table 9: Probable Cause Actions
Table 8: Reports Received, Complaints Received and Investigations Completed (continued)
The number of Florida’s health care practitioners continues to rise. To ensure the safety of Florida’s residents and visitors, the Department is
increasing its investigative and enforcement efforts. As a result, MQA is able to provide better and increased evidence in each case.
Each board or council has a designated panel to determine if there is probable cause or sufficient evidence to bring formal charges against a
licensee. This fiscal year probable cause was found in over 1,700 cases. Furthermore, the number of cases presented to the Probable Cause
Panels increased by 10 percent.
Professions not listed have no data to report. For a complete list refer to Table 1 and 2.
Notes:
Legally Sufficient excludes 224 complaints found not legally sufficient following commencement of investigation.
Investigations Completed includes three found not legally sufficient upon completion of investigation.
Definitions:
Statutory Report: reports required by Florida Statute to be submitted to the Department.
Legally Sufficient: complaints that, if found to be true, show a potential violation of Florida Statutes or Rules.
